Time Out

Your Presence Can Only Be Experienced in the Present Moment

Recent James Webb Space Telescope discoveries of distant galaxies, hypothesized to be older than ours, are now being analyzed as much younger and are throwing a proverbial curveball at the Big Bang Theory.

Thinking about these galaxies in regard to time is a bigger challenge though. As Albert Einstein once wrote: “People like us who believe in physics know that the distinction between past, present, and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion.”

In other words, time is an illusion. Many physicists since have shared this view. The view that true reality is in itself timeless.

Philosophers and counselors alike speak of the health of the present moment. Let’s take a look at this in scripture:

I AM that I AM. | Exodus 3.14

Before Abraham was I AM. | John 8.58

A day in your sight is like a thousand years... | Psalm 90.4; 2 Peter 3.8

I am the Alpha and the Omega | Revelation 22.13

It’s critical to your leadership, parenting, friendships, and marriage to be present... to show up... Jesus calls us to stay in today (Matthew 6.33).
